Seedworks Urban Offices

Member Profile

Seedworks Urban Offices is a coworking space housing between 20 and 30 companies within an 1880s heritage building. From two employees when it was a seed warehouse, the building now supports more than 60 people, including staff at Hamilton Bike Share (SoBi) and Sustainable Hamilton Burlington.

Now more than 60 people based at the Seedworks contribute to the local downtown economy, using the facility to conduct business and social events, and contributing to a thriving community culture.

Past recipients of Hamilton’s “Heritage Property Conservation Award” and a “Bicycle Friendly Business Award” from Share the Road Cycling Coalition, the Seedworks has been keen to accommodate alternative methods of transportation since its inception.

Two car share parking spaces and a bike rack, as well as a double-bank of SoBi bikes have been provided for community members’ use. Seedworks members can set up a Vrtucar membership without paying any corporate set up fees.

Sustainability Leadership Program Updates

2020 Annual Impact Report

Seedworks Urban Offices is dedicated to Sustainable Procurement practices, sourcing recycled paper products, environmentally friendly cleaning products and refillable coffee pods and containers, also filling its garden with pollinator-friendly plants.

A recent waste audit has led to plans for even clearer signage for recycling, waste and composting bins. Filter water coolers are raising awareness about the need to avoid bottled water and other single use plastics.

Growing on, Seedworks will install more lighting sensors and convert its lighting to LEDs. It will also continue to seek and implement the best sustainability ideas from its membership, and its Green Team.
