A message from our Executive Director Kim Gutt:
Dear Supporters of Sustainable Hamilton Burlington;
I’m reaching out today to announce my departure from Sustainable Hamilton Burlington at the end of the month, and to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the experiences we’ve shared over the past 3 years. During my time here, I have had the amazing fortune of meeting and working with over 40 organizations wanting to use their business as a force for good. We are a part of a community of people subscribed to the same values, and we all want each other to succeed in this.
SHB has been the guiding light for so many in their search to redefine success as something more fulfilling and that strengthens the community. The work being done by this organization and our Sustainable Business Initiative members is not just praiseworthy, it is absolutely necessary to respond to the global challenges of climate change and inequality, and it is helping to build a resilient, competitive economy in the Bay Area.
There is much work yet to be done and our movement continues to grow, with the organization being more adept than ever at responding to the diverse needs of our member organizations. Rest assured that SHB will be in good hands moving forward with our founder Sandi Stride returning in the interim to help maintain continuity while a new Executive Director is recruited. Given her incredible capacity to lead, mentor and inspire, I’m confident that she and our staff will keep the organization in good care as I move on to explore opportunities that have opened up to me in the field of sustainability, as a result of my time here.
SHB has given me the opportunity to help countless young people build their careers, to put my finger on the pulse of the local economy, and to learn how to advocate effectively for the future that our community deserves. This organization translates our love for the community into tangible action, and I’m grateful for every moment I’ve been a part of it.
